2007 partner charities | past recipients | how to apply | foundation board Educational Grants Program The Foundation supports innovative educational programs for K-12 school aged population based on partnerships and a vision for improving education in Oregon by engaging students in learning. Eligible Organizations The Foundation funds tax-exempt organizations, including K - 12 schools, both private and public, institutions of higher education and non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations that offer educational activities and programs. Types of Projects Funded The Foundation supports projects that will advance K to 12 education/learning through innovative delivery mechanisms and partnership arrangements. Outreach efforts that help prepare kids for formal education and that involve partnerships are eligible projects. Application Process Two types of awards will be considered by the Foundation. Eligible organizations may apply for a contribution based on services provided during the JELD-WEN Tradition. The organizations will meet the eligibility for funding as stated in the Foundation's eligibility section. Grants will be made on a competitive basis to eligible organizations selected by the Foundation's directors. APPLICATION PROCESS Written proposals from eligible organizations will be considered once a year during the early fall and awards announced in late fall. Funds are distributed in December of each year. All proposals must include the following: A cover letter to the Foundation with information on eligibility status, a brief description of the project including the innovative aspects and partnership organizations, and individuals responsible for the success of the project. A detailed page describing: The specific goals and objectives The educational strategies and delivery mechanisms The beneficiaries of the project Expected measurable outcomes Plan of action and timetable for implementation Proposed budget and plans for sustainability of the project Financial request The application deadline for charities to apply for 2008 is November 1, 2008.
